Introduction

The Community Development Department facilitates the orderly physical and economic development of the city consistent with adopted General Plan policies. The department accomplishes this by administering advance planning, current planning, building permitting, building inspection programs in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

The Building Division provides reasonable controls for construction and occupancy of buildings and structures throughout the city through the enforcement of all building related municipal ordinances. This division serves and protects the public with plan checking services, the issuance of permits, the keeping of building related records, and building inspections. The division also supervises the maintenance of city buildings in the civic center.
