Confidentiality of Library Records |
In accordance to California Government Code 6254, the Upland Public Library Board of Trustees acknowledges the Library's records identifying the names of library users with specific materials to be confidential in nature. Records may be released to persons authorized in writing by the patron or patrons to inspect their records. Library staff will reserve the right to verify such authorizations before releasing records. Librarians and library employees shall not make available to any agency of state, federal, or local government or any citizens not a part of the Library staff any part of the circulation file or registration file which includes personal patron information except by order of a court of law, or by express written permission of the patron or patrons involved as noted above. Adopted by the Library Board of Trustees February 1984. |

How to Receive a Library Card |
Library cards are free and available to any California resident. At the Upland Public Library, photo identification, verification of current address, and your physical presence are required to register for a library card. A parent or legal guardian must take responsibility for a person under 18 year of age and must show photo identification and proof of current address at the time of registration. Guardians must also show court-issued custodial guardian documentation. Examples of acceptable proof of address include: a California driver's license or DMV identification, utility bill, printed checks, car registration or lease/rental receipt. Library card registrations are valid for 3 years. Please notify the Library if you have a change of address or name. Please report any lost or stolen card immediately. A patron's outstanding balance must be paid in full before card privileges may be renewed. For more information on library cards, please call (909) 931-4200. General Fine Information |
Overdue fines for most books and materials are $0.25 per day. A $5.00 processing fee is added to the cost of each item when a replacement bill is issued "assumed-lost" (long overdue) materials. A collection fee is added to each account submitted to a collection agency. A patron's outstanding balance must be paid in full before card privileges may be renewed. For more information on overdue materials, please call (909) 931-4220 ext. 0.

InterLibrary Loan |
If the Library does not carry a title you want, you may place a reserve through our InterLibrary Loan service. While this service may not satisfy immediate needs, the benefit is access to material at a fraction of its cost. The loan period and availability of materials depend on the lending library's loan policies. The minimum cost for this service is $2.50, a non-refundable processing fee to cover search and delivery costs, due upon your receipt of the materials. To place your ILL request, please call the Reference Department at (909) 931-4205.

Overdue Library Materials |
As a courtesy to patrons, the Upland Public Library uses the following procedure for reclaiming overdue materials:
Patrons can set the option of receiving overdue notices via either email or postal delivery at the Circulation Desk. Email notification includes a date due reminder, which is not available via postal delivery.
Public Internet Use Policy |
The Library has 11 Internet-enabled workstations for public use: 8 for adults, 3 in children's. You may use the Internet for free for one hour per day. Valid Upland Public Library cards are required to sign onto the computers. During high demand periods, computer sessions may be restricted to 30 minutes. For minors to obtain Internet access, a parent must come into the Library to sign the Internet User Agreement. Please feel free to review our Internet Use Policy (pdf), or call (909) 931-4200 for further information.

Renewing materials |
Can't get to the Library before the due date? Please have your library card handy when renewing your items. We now offer Online Book Renewals. If you wish to renew by phone, please call (909) 931-4210. If you are denied renewal online or by phone, please call (909) 931-4220 during the Library's open hours of service.

Reserving materials |
Looking for something that is checked out? You may reserve most materials at our Library. To place a "hold" on a title currently checked out, you must have an Upland Library card. Once your reserved title is available, a library notice will alert you to pick it up at the Circulation Desk within 10 days. The cost of placing a hold is $0.50, to be paid at the time you check out your reserved item. You may place a reserve through our Online Catalog or by calling our Reference Department at (909) 931-4205.
Patrons can set the option of receiving library notices via either email or postal delivery at the Circulation Desk. Email notification includes a date due reminder, which is not available via postal delivery.

Your Responsibilities as a Library Borrower |
Your library card is like a credit card. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card, and any fees or fines you may accrue. Do not lend your card to others. If it is lost or stolen, or if you change your address, notify the Library immediately.
