The Upland Public Library strives to provide material to cover every arena of knowledge in a variety of formats, including books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks. We have comprehensive reference collections for both adults and children. You'll find stacks of books in Spanish and Chinese languages and large print format. Special collections include the California Collection and Local History Collection. These collections contain in-depth historical photographs and documents pertaining to Upland and the surrounding areas.

Audio Visual Materials

The Upland Public Library maintains a variety of educational videos, audiobooks, and compact discs for children, teenagers, and adults. Since this is a financially self-supporting collection, there is a rental fee per loan period for use. However, there is no rental fee for items identified as public service (PS) materials.
  • To borrow movies on DVD or VHS, you must have an adult or young adult Upland Library Card. The loan period for videos is seven days. The rental fee is $2 per movie.
  • Audiobooks on CD, cassette or pre-loaded to a Playaway® check out for 21 days, same as books, and may be renewed twice. There is a rental fee of $2 for unabridged audiobooks. Rental fees for abridged or children's audiobooks are $1 per audiobook.
  • The Library has several Chinese mainland television series on VCD available for checkout. There is a rental fee of $5.00 for 3 weeks.
  • Thanks to the Friends of the Upland Public Library, digital audiobooks may be downloaded for free at this time. The loan period is 14 days for digital eBooks and audiobooks. Browse the digital book titles by clicking on the red Digital Books button at the top of any Library webpage.

    • Braille Tapes Free

    The Upland Public Library offers free Braille tapes, provided by the Braille Institute, to anyone who may need them. Requests for certain tapes may be made by calling the Library at (909) 931-4202. The Braille tapes can be played only on a machine provided by the Braille Institute. To rent a machine, please call (800) 424-8567.

    Rental Books

    The Upland Public Library maintains a collection of bestsellers and high-demand books for rent. Rental books check out for one week at a cost of $2 per book. We do not accept reserves on these materials. Rental fees must be paid at the time of checkout.
