Volunteers

Get Involved

The Library relies on volunteers for assistance in various services and programs. Volunteers may help to keep shelves in order, tutor adult learners, repair books, prepare supplies for crafts, register summer reading program participants, make photocopies, sign up patrons for computers, or other tasks as needed.

Those interested in volunteering at the Library (or any City agency) are required to submit a Volunteer application to the Human Resources Department at City Hall, (909) 931-4177.

Adult Literacy Program needs tutors

If you would like to volunteer your time, please call the Literacy Department at (909) 931-4212. Tutors must be willing volunteer 2 to 4 hours per week with a minimum six-month commitment. Tutor orientation, tutor training, and instructional materials are all provided by the Adult Literacy Program.

Join the BookCellar volunteers

The Friends of the Upland Public Library seek honest, hard-working individuals who can commit regular weekly hours to support the Book Cellar. Volunteers help to review donations, fix prices to store merchandise, and sell to Book Cellar patrons. Bookstore sales support both library materials and programs, such as the popular summer reading program. Please contact Library Administration at (909) 931-4203.
