Upland Police Department

Response Times

4 Levels of Priority

The Upland Police Department classifies incidents according to four priorities:

Priority 1:  High priority, emergency, serious crimes in progress.

Priority 2:  Medium priority, non-emergency.

Priority 3:  Low priority, report calls.

Priority 4:  Lowest priority, abandoned vehicles.

Response time is the number of minutes that elapse between the time a call is answered by a dispatcher, until the time the first patrol unit advises that it has arrived on scene.

Response Times By Year
2001 2002 2003 2004 2005
Priority 1 6:37 6:39 5:30 5:48 5:28
Priority 2 18:51 16:33 17:58 18:46 18:20
Priority 3 45:12 37:06 40:08 49:30 30:25

Our Goal

Our goal is to keep the response time for Priority 1 calls to less than six (6) minutes. In order to achieve this goal, an increase in response time to lower priority calls is necessary.
